About the course: Course materials will be released on September 12th. Participants will have the week to complete the online modules and materials prior to the required interactive virtual classroom sessions. The six required interactive virtual classroom sessions will begin the following week on Saturday mornings (September 19, 26, October 3, 10, 17, & 24 from 0700-1000 PST/ 1000-1300 EST) This Online Adolescent/Adult Sexual Assault Forensic/Nurse Examiner (SAFE/SANE) course will prepare the Physician, Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse with the theoretical knowledge to practice as a SAFE/SANE . This 6-Week virtual course has curriculum which includes: Foundational concepts of forensic health science Application of best practice to provide specialized patient care Comprehensive medical forensic examination training Legal considerations & witness testimony Multi-disciplinary team coordination Professional resilience Weekly Interactive workshops led by SANE-A Certified Forensic Healthcare Specialists with current practice and expertise in the field. This course was recognized by the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) as an approved theoretical component for preparation to apply for the SANE-A Credential by the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) before dissolution of the organization in 2026 and approved for 45 contact hours by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission of Accreditation (ANCC COA). The courses offered by CFHC continue to adhere to research based best standards for practice.
